40+ Years Experience

Having 40+ years of experience with hair and 30+ years of being a salon owner, Sam Johnson has built a solid reputation as a renowned hair stylist across the United States. Before settling in Johnson City, Sam worked with CBS Studios in Hollywood, California as a wardrobe consultant and a hair/makeup artist on the Young & The Restless set for 8 years. Sam also received the Most Beautiful Hair Award at the Miss USA pageant in 1998 for Kellie Lightbourne – Miss Virginia USA. Building up a portfolio in the professional world as a hair stylist, Sam took the opportunity to showcase his skills to an audience as a platform artist. Since then, Sam has focused on his passions in hair, makeup, wardrobe, and pageantry.

Jose' Garcia

Co-Owner

Men's Professional Stylist, Color Specialist

15+ Years Experience

With 15+ years of experience, Jose’ has showcased his skills as a professional hairstylist and makeup artist on many occasions. Over the years, Jose has been a stylist and makeup artist for various Miss America and Miss USA contestants. Jose' has also provided his hair and makeup services for many high-fashion photography shoots. With these qualifications, Jose’ signed with the Rasnick Agency in Mexico City as a stylist and makeup artist for their model and international runway clients. Now in Johnson City, Jose’ prides himself in serving clients at Design Studio, specializing in men’s haircuts, Latin hair, and hair coloring. He strives to provide his clients with the hairstyles they envisioned.

This post is way overdue... I called last minute on Christmas Eve, and he told me that he was closing for the day. Sam proceeded to ask me what all I needed done. I explained to him that I just needed a trim where I cut it myself, and it was uneven. He asked me when could I be here, and he stayed open for me on Christmas Eve when he didn't have to. It was one of the best hair washes and cuts I've ever experienced. I'm so glad to have found someone with some much experience doing hair. I don't think I'll trust anyone else after seeing Sam!

Sam and I are cousins. What an amazing find! Sam Johnson and Jose both teamed up and took great care of my hair. Highly, highly recommend this salon!! New to the area and found this salon online and I completely lucked out!! Made an appointment to get my hair cut and brought both of my daughters with me, they wanted a hair cut too but I hadn’t made an appointment, Sam and Jose managed to fit them in and we were all 3 shampooed, cut and styled in under an hour! They were very quick but at no time did we ever feel rushed at all. They were so friendly and knowledgeable we will definitely be back! Sam is amazing!!! Got my cut and color just right. I am always worried about damaging my long hair, but he uses great products and I felt totally comfortable in his hands. He knows what he's doing for sure! The salon is very welcoming and super comfortable as well.
